Product · Soil reports
A soil report for one field, when you ask for it.
Fieldhand builds the report from that field’s own lab records and soil data, and says where each value came from.
What is in a report
From the field at a glance to what to apply.
The sections a generated report contains.
- Field at a glanceThe key properties and how each one rates.
- Nutrient sufficiencyEach nutrient against its sufficiency target.
- Base saturation and balanceHow the exchange sites are shared among the cations.
- Management zonesA zone map for each property where the samples support one, with zone detail.
- Recommended actionsWhat to address first, from the field’s own data.
- What to applyRate guidance, when it is requested.
- Complete panelEvery property, its rating and its coverage.
- Basis and authoritiesWhich guideline rated each property.
- About this report and assumptionsHow the values were built and what was assumed.
Where each value comes from
Every value says what it is.
A report mixes measured and modeled values, so each one carries a label.
- A field average, area-weighted, marked as measured or predicted.
- Estimated from soil chemistry, to confirm with a soil test.
- A typical range for the area, with a prompt to add a soil test.
- A regional typical value, to confirm with a soil test.
- A confidence rating for each property: High, Moderate, Low or Not rated, with the spatial skill score when there is one.
Older tests
Stale tests are named, not hidden.
- The report states the date of the most recent sample and asks you to confirm with current soil tests before making input decisions.
- Older values are flagged as aging.
- In a prescription, a mobile nutrient tested more than four years ago gets one conservative rate instead of zone rates.
Soil test ordering
When the answer needs new data.
Order sampling or a soil test from the field, and the request goes to the lab you choose.
The order
- You choose the lab. Labs that accept orders are listed first, then by distance.
- The request is emailed to the lab with a submittal PDF, the sample locations and a results template.
- The order counts as submitted only after the email goes out.
- Order for one field or for several at once.
- Soil tests only; tissue testing is not available.
The sampling plan
- Targeted: one point per zone for each property that needs a closer look.
- Baseline grid: one sample per 2.5 acres (about 1 ha), 6 to 40 points, each a composite of 8 cores taken within 10 feet (3 m).
- A baseline counts as recent for four years.
