Questions we hear most.
Short answers about Fieldhand AI: accuracy, where it works, units, your data and getting started.
What is Fieldhand AI?
An agronomy agent for growers and the people who advise them. Ask about a soil test or a field in plain language, and get soil reports, seed, fertilizer and lime prescriptions, and what-if answers. The product
Does the AI make up the numbers?
No. The language model handles the conversation. Rates and conversions are computed by software tools from published soil-science equations and regional agronomic guidelines, so the same inputs give the same numbers, and each answer names its source. How it works
Where does it work?
Soil-test ratings follow regional guidelines encoded for many US states and regions, plus the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and each answer names the guideline it used. Regional growing zones are described across the Americas; elsewhere they are still being built, so Fieldhand works from your own soil tests there. Where it works
Can I use metric units?
Yes. Outside the US, prescriptions show kg/ha and seeds/ha, and you can ask in either system.
Do I need a soil test?
It helps a great deal. Without one, Fieldhand can estimate some properties from public soil data and labels them as estimates. Phosphorus, potassium and pH decisions need a soil test, and you can order one from the field. Soil reports and ordering
When does it recommend zones?
Only when a zone map beats a single field-average rate on held-out samples. When it doesn’t, Fieldhand recommends one rate and says why. The method
Does it replace my agronomist?
No. It assists your decisions and is not a substitute for a licensed adviser. Prescriptions are reviewed before they are shared, and you can send any report or prescription to your agronomist, crop specialist, soil scientist or applicator.
How do prescriptions get to my equipment?
Export an approved prescription as a shapefile, ISOXML, CSV or PDF, among other formats, and load it from USB or your display’s desktop software. Export formats
Can it read my lab results?
Yes. Upload your results: Midwest Labs and Ward Labs reports and CSV files are read directly. Boundary and yield files can be uploaded too.
Does it connect to my farm-management software?
Not yet. Direct connections are being built. Today you upload files, and export prescriptions as files.
Is my data private?
Your data is yours. It is not sold, and it is not used to train public AI models. Data & security
Is there a phone app?
It runs in any phone or desktop browser today, with nothing to install. The phone app is in testing.
Is it free to start?
Yes. Create a free account, add a field and ask questions. Plans for full prescriptions, reports and advisory practices are being finalized. Talk to our team
